Typefaces to Love #1

Typography can, and should, be a beautiful thing… unless it was meant to be ugly. Regardless, finding the proper typeface for your project can be a struggle even if you know what you are looking for. If you don’t, it can be disastrous. However, when you do find the perfect type for your project, it can all come together in a blink of an eye. Sometimes, it can take you in new directions or inspire a new idea altogether. This is where the “Typefaces to Love” series comes in. Hopefully, through the weeks, months and years to come or somewhere along the way, you’ll find the perfect typeface you were looking for. Or even something you weren’t.

    I’m a fan of fun typography. Nothing quite a exciting as finding the right font to finish your project… the key word being FINISH.
    If you’re like me, you can easily get caught up in the minutia of the details: just the right typeface, just the right color down to the specific RGB code, etc. This, for me, is the fun stuff… but if I let my natural compulsions take over, I lose a lot of time. Be sure to do the hard work first and save the fun fonts for the icing on the cake.

    Oh, and if you’re making a font move, be sure to use a clean typeface that won’t create a lot of aliasing or flicker when moving – especially if you are working in an interlaced format.

      Type is an amazing thing! It’s always fun to play around with, but you can get caught up in all the details. Great advice here, Eric!
