Bran Dougherty-Johnson and Jake Sargeant from the Motion Graphics Design Census have released the Motion Graphics Design Census Survey for 2010 which is “an unofficial web-survey of professionals in the Motion Graphics Design field”. Bottom line, it’s a great place to start looking if you are curious what your worth is as an artist and what the going rate is for people in your field. Out of 5,536 responses, this 40 page .pdf breaks down the details to specific jobs, hourly rates, annual incomes, age and experience, and even most used software. Download this and start figuring out where you are in your field.

They are currently compiling information for their 2011 census in the USA, UK, Chile, Brazil and spain. If you would like to take part, simply visit their website.
